There are times when we feel tired and achy and off our game. There is nothing specific that we can pinpoint but there is this feeling of dis-ease, be it mental, emotional or physical.

When these feeling persist, instead of popping a pill or two, we have a cup of tea and good night’s sleep. In the morning we are ready to go, ready to greet new challenges and take advantage of life’s many opportunities.

So, I present you with Herbal Healing – a cup of tea for the mind, body and soul.

Ingredients:

1 small bayleaf (or ½ tsp of grounded bay leaf powder)

1 couple blades of lemon grass

½ teaspoon of ground nigella

A small sprig of St. John’s Wort

1 squeeze of lemon

1.5 cups of water

Directions:

Add the water to a small pan, cover and bring to a full boil. Turn off the heat, remove the lid and add the bayleaf, lemongrass and St. John’s Wort. Recover tightly and allow the leaves to steep in the boiled water.

After 5 minutes, uncover and add the ground nigella, (and ground bayleaf if you had no leaves) and stir. Strain into a container that can hold the entire brew. Measure out one cup, add it to your favourite mug with a few drops of raw unfiltered honey and a squeeze of lemon. Stir until everything is well dissolved. Put on some comfy clothes. Sip slowly as you feel the healing nature of these herbs.

Notes:

Make sure it is safe for you to use Nigella sativa.

Remember lemon grass cools very slowly so sip cautiously.

And hey, if you feel to add more honey, well do so!

Enjoy.
