How was your day
Asked with a smile
All dimpled cheeked
And twinkling eyes.
My jaws drop open
In awe and shock
Those words so simple
Hit the right spot.
My former life
Held little more
Than narcissists
And fools galore.
Who never thought
It nice to ask
With kind words how
My day had passed.
Oh, mundane yes
These words can be
They melt my heart
When said to me.
