Friends

If you have been following our story on https://bsky.app/profile/ilistrudiepalmer.bsky.social, you would have known that we are developing our small 7-acre farm to be a place to visit, and hopefully to have an Eco_Spiritual_Experience.

As a way to promote this activity, and also to raise funds to continue our work, we have created, and are now offering for sale, a line of products in our Fine Art America Store.

When you support us by purchasing a piece of merchandise, please know you are helping to #savesoil, preserve our natural environment and also promote #regenerative_agriculture.

Pay a visit to our shop, and pay us a visit when we officially open next year.

When The Mist Rises

Cover page for When The Mist Rises

“When The Mist Rises” is a 72-page e-book that recounts the story of a friendship between two-ish persons, a farmer named John and the narrator, Ilis. Then there is John’s friend Jah Son. He is the ‘ish’. It is a fantasy/reality story, with some mystery, romance and mystical happenings. The story is set in the foothills of a small Caribbean island. Ilis, the narrator of the story, visits her friend John on his farm where they spend time talking about everything under the sun, from farming, to life and death, music, food, climate change and growing old. Jah Son, who incidentally has many names, is the unknown quantity here, and the narrator is determined to uncover what gives him his air of mysticism. The novella is written in an informal, easy reading style and shares many Caribbean cultural references. There are some interesting turns and an intriguing ending.

Anthology of Tiny Bites

Cover page for Anthology of Tiny Bites

I present you with this collection of tiny poems in the form of haiku, senryu, tanka, one-liners and micro pieces, in this compilation titled The Anthology of Tiny Bites. These words reflect the varied aspects of my personality, combinations of the natural, spiritual, sensual and humorous. Some have been written based on interesting prompts from some very nice persons I have met along my journey. Thank you, nice people! Please enjoy the tiny bites, and if you desire larger morsels, check out Poetry for Misinterpretation or my other works.

Let the sun shine on my face

If you possess a mystic mind, these stories are of your kind.

Written, as my literary soul friend describes my work, “in her signature style of seriousness, mystique, description, understated cynicism…and a sense of poker-faced humour.”

Thank you Suma.

Read, enjoy and please share.

Let the sun shine on my face

I clutched the book,
it was still warm,
maybe because
it traveled across the Atlantic
in the back of the ship —
a space ship,
couriered
first for my approval,
I looked at it;
a piece of me, but not really of me
since the words and the messages
flowed right through me
I was empty.

Now
full of energy,
excitement brimming from this everlasting fountain
I present to you,
The Sun,
Shining on my Face.
