I called, no response, I texted
no response, I came to your door and knocked,
no response.

Three days later I found out you had died —
on the inside
When you sent me that note,
I cannot
followed by three dots.

It was for me to discover that you could no longer
love me for me, give to me
as I have selflessly given to you,
treat me as your friend, as family.

There was no more a place for me —
you filled it with emptiness,
talking about therapy, and your need to know —
to find answers from between the cushions of the couch.
Since then, still lost, still dead.

Sometimes we really cannot help and the best thing to do is to leave.
